Trying to apply for Non Immigrant o visa to Thailand. The form is asking for a health insurance policy covering treatment and medical expenses related to COVID 19 with minimum coverage of $100,000. Questions 1 is coverage that high still required? I have read that Thailand pass only requires $10k. 2 If not required, what is needed to satisfy the upload? 3. Any recommendations for insurance as I am 75y/o? 4. I plan to live in Thailand once the 90 days are up and i deposit the 400k baht so how long must I have the insurance for?

My husband and I are 61 and ready to retire to Thailand. To Samui in fact. We currently live in Hong Kong as we have been expats for ages. We do NOT have Permanent Residence in HK, having been here for 5 years of the required 7. The Thai consulate say we must go back to our home country UK and apply there.

That’s very expensive!

So, if we can get a 90 day non immigrant visa in HK, can we apply for a OA or OX visa once in Thailand?

How do we do any police clearances needed?

Is the process really terrible? At the moment it looks to be our only option without travelling to UK and spending as long as it takes there.

Your thoughts would be very much appreciated. Many thanks in anticipation of helpful advice 😎

I will be retiring from my job in Thailand in December on the day that my work permit and business visa extension of stay expire. I intend to get a retirement visa and am aware of the financial requirements. But I am getting conflicting advice on the procedure for switching to a retirement visa. Do I need to leave the country and get a non-O or can I switch to a retirement visa in Thailand?
