I showed flight out 89 days from start of visa. That was in Mexico , I guess each embassy has there own rules

When I applied for a tourist visa for Thailand with a UK passport in Mexico . I was asked for proof of my legal right to be in Mexico ,and why I was there . Also reason I wasn't returning to UK.
