On the front of the thai immigration booth where the officer is sitting it says to be ready to show your onward ticket. In the last 2 years i've been there 3 times and every time they've asked for an onward ticket from me. I swear those long immigration lines sometimes me be a planeload of dummies that live by the seat of their pants and they're at the immigration booth buying tickets and slowing the line down
