Excellent Idea & perfectly legal. I’ve been visiting Thailand over last 12 years & Ido just that, carry a photocopy of my ID, Passport & Driving licence.

Never carry originals, hotel safe every time.

people should not pre judge. Yes, Thailand has a very bad road safety record, but remember none driver responsibly

accidents can & do happen as elsewhere in the world.

You have to officially enter the country & officially leave it again. Thus going through immigration twice. You can’t just pop in & out at your leisure without officially arriving & departing.

The whole Thai Visa system is a complex, complicated mixed up mess.

Even the Thai immigration system don’t understand their own rules, conditions & complex variations.

So difficult to comply without doing wrong.

They desperately need to simplify & condense their Visa issues/requirements so entrants can understand & progress without committing immigration offences.

A total mix mash of complex complicated immigration- Visa issues.

it all needs sorting out so everyone including the Thai officials

Understands a much more simplified version of the Country’s Visa requirements.

I had exactly the same experience. Each & every Thai bank has its own set of rules & operations re Farangs requirements.

Some banks don’t want to know & will turn you away, others gladly welcome your business . Just trial & error.

legalised theft really.

So, without a proper & protective Visa system that's enforced, the UK will continue to get the rest of the Worlds Riff Raff at several hundred a day & counting. which in Thailand & most other Countries, this illegality is not permitted to happen. Shame on UK's successive Governments.

However since retiring I would like to spend several months in Thailand so am wondering about the most favorable permitted Visa. Unfortunately the UK Government unlike Thailand, doesn't have the same respect or considerations for our Country & just permits countless numbers of overseas immigrants to illegally enter the Country at will & with ease totally illegally
