Can you lay out the evidence for saying that Thai immigration “don’t like” tourists staying 60days and then extending another 30days ?

1. Are you still in your pj’s

2. Have you got anything going on at all to stop you needing to come out with that thought and if so what ?

The answers could be

1. Yes

2. No

It’s not up to the IO he’s just a worker, u 41ck, I was refused by an IO wearing a mask who could see my previous border run history over Covid to stay here save going back to the UK. He delighted in it saying “you go back home today” I was presented to the boss who you can see walking around between booths. After a chat with my LTGF I was let in. I then did two more trips after that VisaExempt but due to fear mongering online I chose to get an METV this time because I wanted more than 3 months, and people were posting about unverifiable incidents where Visa Exemption was being refused at the Airport. Thailand has experienced a mass of what I would call ผankerz in late 2025 so Thai hate for the 4-ray-ner will have been at its height and I would not have been surprised if I was singled out as I am very easy on the eyes and jealousy levels will be high. Anyway I’m in and my first 2 months is nearly up so I will need to leave and return or go to local Immigration to extend but I really can’t bring myself to give the cash to local immigration for the renewal I’d rather go to Lao ( it’s Lao not Laos) and give those corrupt border guards the cash and spend a night or two drinking the Bear of ‘Lao’ called ‘ Beer-Lao’ not ‘Beer-Laos’

Thais who can speak basic English will do the same as Germans.

My thoughts are, from my experience are,

• Don’t ever engage in speaking Thai with anyone who has knowledge of English, ever. They will judge you and turn to English and you will not progress.

•Don’t get as hung up on tones (the way a word is said that makes it mean what it means). When I first started out in the bars 20 years ago I thought I would literally have to say every word in the ‘way’ it was supposed to pronounced, this is impossible for most because how can you remember the way/tone of all the words available? I met a guy once in a late night bar in HuaHin, he said just be sure the last word of the sentence is correct because there’s no way they’ll know you said the others in way they can say is wrong or right as the words are said in quick succession like in a song. This was great advice but as I have trouble remembering a 4 digit number let alone one of 5 different sound styles to apply to thousands of possible words. So I developed the strategy that I call the ‘Steve’s “Ooh they won’t like that” strategy’ where I say all the required words with no particular tone in succession and instead of having to have the last word said in the way the listener is expecting I make the last word a question word like “ChaiMai?“ “Le Yang?” which means that as long as the words said up until then in the context of a garden centre, bike repair shop etc are correct they should have no choice to make the confused (“what TF did he say?”)face 🤔.

Many times a week I will have a situation where my victim blanks and has zero clue what I said but another Thai will repeat what I just said and the the victim suddenly understands the same words but in accent they can trust even though the bystander understood. This brought me to the realisation that ( to use a term a very clever and fluent speaker friend of mine used) some Thais brains are more ‘Flexible’ than others. This is the reason why some days you’ll get by and somedays you will hit a series of brains that can only understand their local dialect. With these lot just turn on ones heels 180degs and try someone else. I had a 20 mins conversation in Utteradit about anti Trump/pro Iran propaganda on Thai Media at village 95 pump in a small village last week. He understood everything because of his brain.

Leaning to speak Thai and more importantly understanding what others are saying to and about you and others is a long long road and not suited to the usual retiree. I fix machines and work out how things work, I’m not like other people. Those other people stay here years and cannot work it out even though there is a whole country here to explore with out the handler that is incredible if you can mix it with the locals.

Worst thing you can do is get a teacher who will teach you to converse with a university student on campus but off campus you will have zero clue what people are saying.

2 dogs for every year I’ve been in the village after giving up being a tourist 7 years ago so 2 dog for every year is about right. Probably more as some have passed on along the way. At moment we have DukDik,NamTaan, SiGork,Scamp,Wolfie,TaoKao, WoofWoof banished to the Rubber tree land is Snowy, Batgirl, Shitto ( all lovely dogs but they wanted to be top dogs in the house crew and it was carnage. Funny thing is the girlfriends Fathers female dog Dam stays at the ‘farm‘ and all suddenly got a short sharp shock in what the pecking order is as Dam walks straight in and takes their dinner as and when she has finished hers. Brand new House Crew recruits Ga-Ba, latté and AirTag reside at the house with us, latté and AirTag I snatched from a litter of pups where she and her brother weren’t getting fed and were also sick with blood parasites from ticks and now are being treated and after 3 days of meds are doing well.

I’m here seeing my family of 12 years including a 7 year old child 12 dogs and the girlfriend. Never had a visa until now which is a 6month METV. I’ve been here 2 months in a weeks time. I will go to Lao and drink the Beer Lao, for 20baht a small can (not beer Laos, beer Lao) and return and get another( I believe) 2months

Maybe 1 month I’m sure you have a few euros you don’t want in the Borse exchange, get it deposited asap in a Thai account and enjoy being able to call yourself an ex-pat, can you imagine being able to tell moaning tourist “ Just get the correct visa !” Just typing it out will be worth the 800kBaht alone.

I just transferred 500kbaht into my girlfriend’s Kasikorn bank account to buy a Car. Did it in seconds. When it came to transferring to the sellers bank it was a nightmare. Couldn’t send more 75k so had to go to a local bank in Udon Thani to make it with all involved.

What’s the international transfer option about on wise now ?

If you can’t work out how to buy an Emirates fully refundable ticket out of Thailand BKK to SIA you should be allowed to travel.
