the 800,000 THB need to have seasoned for TWO months, not for 90 days. . . .3 months used to be the OLD requirement, and was discontinued in 2019 . . . . . .now it is "for 2 months prior to application and for 3 months after having been issued the extension"
if he does the application with the deposit method, he doesn't have to show 12 months of bank statements. For the deposit method the "bank letter of guarantee" must only show the balance of the previous TWO months
it would be interesting to know from you if the Immigration officer last year insisted you to have a one-year Covid19 health insurance for the marriage extension, or if you got one for yourself without any pressure from Immigration . . . . As far as we all know, there is no requirement for this.
would he still have the option for the 60-days "family visit" extension, or did he use it up as well, yet? That would give him time to find a solution 400,000 THB banking wise
you cannot get a new visa or enter visa exempt, while there is a valid visa in your passport. You HAVE TO USE your O/A visa. The Thai embassy does not cancel a valid visa. Your only option is wait until October 6th and let it expire. After this date you can enter visa exempt, apply for a Non-Imm-O or a Tourist Visa
the UK insurance (foreign insurance) is only good for the first year of a Non-Imm-O/A visa. Going into the second year, all O/A visa holders need a Thai insurer. When you mention "ditching" as in let it expire, that actually works. But he cannot just "ditch" a still valid visa. It would mean he has to wait until after October 6th, before he can apply for another visa. Other than that, your advice is cool.
yes it will help when you politely (!) ask the Immigration officer to call the hotel and let them talk the glitch out between themselves, because by law you are not the one to do the TM30 report, the landlord or hotel is obliged to take care of it
what an embassy says, and what Immigration in Thailand is asking for, are different pair of shoes. They are two different ministries with different requirements and don't communicate between themselves a lot
for applying in Germany, you only need to show 5000 Euros in ANY bank account in your name. But for the in-country Non-O and the subsequent 1-year extension, you need to show 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account in your sole name
I suggest you visit Immigration Phattalung and ask for the handout list of documents and requirements needed for the "Conversion" to a Non-Imm-O based on being over 50 from a Tourist Visa. NOTE: you do not need to be retired. You just need to be over 50 years old to apply for it
