to apply for a Non-Imm-O outside of Thailand, he must use the Thai embassy or consulate in his home country. He cannot apply in one of Thailands neighbouring countries, unless he is a resident there
Contrary to above posts, there since February 2022, is a health insurance requirement for aplications for a Non-Imm-O Visa in the threadstarter's home country USA Just NOT YET for extensions out of this visa. . . . . . . . . check here, Thai Embassy Washington DC:
what Immigration asks from you is a Thai family court decision that grants you the paternal rights for your half Thai children. The birth certificates and the custody documents from another country are not enough. Once you have a family court order, you can go for the 1-year extension of stay based on the custody over half Thai children. The process by the Thai family court might take some time, though
if you do a border run and a re-entry just on or BEFORE the Visa expires on 3rd of June, you would be stamped in another 90 days, admitting you until September 2 at the utmost possible. Then just before that, you could use the 60 days family extension, taking you to November 2. Just kindly note, thank you. . . ooops, I just saw that Tod Daniels already posted this option
Nowhere the E-visa says that you have to actually be in your home country to apply for the TR visa. All it says is that you should use the Thai Embassy of your home country when applying.
I would have rather thought that the E-visa system simplifies these matters.
You can get a TR Visa issued FROM your home country, then fly, let’s assume, to India for a 2 weeks holiday. From there you fly to Hongkong for another week. And from there to Thailand.
Or you fly to Hongkong, from there you plan to commence your itinerary to Australia. Whilst staying in Hongkong, you change your mind and decide to fly to Thailand instead.
You apply for a TR visa at your home country’s Thai embassy and get it issued
In both cases, there is nothing wrong with obtaining the Thai Tourist Visa
So in the first situation described, over three weeks after being issued a TR visa through the E-visa system from the Thai embassy of your home country, you enter Phuket HKT via a flight from Hongkong.
Given the second situation, I would assume I could rightfully use this visa.
why would that be a problem? He could have flown from the UK to Bangkok, stayed in transit and flew on to Cambodia. And enter with the TR visa issued in the UK, a week later, coming from Cambodia . . . the TR visa is valid for use for 3 months, regardless in which country you might stop over in between the issue date and the entry
it is the first Covid19 extension I come to see where they issued more than 60 days. Check! February 10th thru April 27th ! That's 77 days. WTF? They must have added it on top of his previous extension
