Would you mind giving everyone an idea on what treatment you received and what you wound up paying out of pocket jet up front? Also where you received treatment.

No. With residence certificate, existing condo lease and 400k in thai baht in hand. Still told no with METV.

I asked at almost 20 branches of Bangkok Bank, SCB and Kasikorn with an METV and that was a show stopper in every branch. BKK AND Phuket

I have never waited more than 48 hours at NY embassy. Usually less than 8 hours and last time got approved and received on a Sunday

I would not take a chance even if it was/is legal. All you need to happen is to get pulled out of line and get accused of being a money laundering kingpin or just having it seized under some BS premis. Are you going to fight to get your money back on foreign soil? Good luck with that. But that's just me.
