Thanks for advice and apologies for being ignorant, but if I get this extension of stay can I then renew marriage visa straight away on my return?

Actually no, didn't think of that. She said I had to come in on 30 day then change for 90 then apply for marriage visa again.

I would like to update this post if that's ok.

So I took the advice and went to Jomtiem immigration today . They would not entertain any leeway at all. 30 days before and no more, no under consideration extension, basically start the process all over again when I return from Australia.
