Is there any leeway on extension of stay based on retirement? ie, up to 7 days after expiry date?

There is no grace period for a 1-year extension. The minute you pass the due date, you are on overstay.

It depends on the Immigration office/officer if you can apply for a new 1-year extension with paying an overstay fine after you are on overstay
