days prior to due date via EMS so it's postmarked the date and is tracked. Immigration cannot claim they didn't receive it. I've used this process for years, hasn't failed once. I won't even try the online system. No point. It would save me at most 15 minutes and 70 baht, and with the thought that it might get rejected
Every time. I'm certainly not going to waste almost a day travelling right across Bangkok for a 90-day report. The post office is two minutes walk and has a photocopy service. I use EMS and the letter is tracked, so I know it reaches immigration.
I do every 90-day report by mail, I've never once reported in person. Mail works fine. I can't even be bothered using the online system, because if it fails, it's too late to do it by mail. The mail system never fails. Costs about 70 baht and about minutes at your local post office
I doubt it! The number of switches from non-O are negligible. It's the newcomers who are streaming into the country. If a retiree or married to a Thai can qualify for the DTV why shouldn't they be able to apply? If immigration is THAT concerned perhaps they'll take a long hard look at the ridiculous criteria of the non-O and scrap a lot of fhd stupid requirements. I've already switched and I'm laughing. Nothing will change. It's a huge success!
But that's how this visa works. Once granted it's five years. The whole point was to get people into the country adding to the economy. Sure there will be a few Cheap Charlies who will live off toasted sandwiches at 7-11 with 20 baht coffee waiting patiently for happy hour to begin, but they're in the minority. As DTV holders have got longstay entitlement they are renting condos which have been empty since covid, driving the economy upwards. This visa is here to stay
