Is it mandatory to submit the TM.47 form within 90 days of obtaining a DTV Visa in Thailand?

Hi everyone. I have my DTV Visa granted on 15 September 2024, and have been living in Bangkok since.

A friend told me that I may need to complete and physically visit immigration and submit a "Notification of residence for more than 90 days form (TM.47)"

He wasn't sure and just submitted this form to be on the safe side.

Few confirmation questions:

1)

Can anyone confirm if this form is mandatory to physically submit within 90 days of obtaining a DTV.

2)

If its mandatory, then where in Bangkok do I go to submit this form, or can I do this online?

Please advise the above, or if its not mandatory, please let me know..

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you are required to physically submit the TM.47 form within 90 days of obtaining your DTV visa. This submission must be done in person at the Bangkok immigration office where your TM30 is registered. You can do this between two weeks before your 90th day and one week after. Unfortunately, online submission is not an option, and any mailing options had to be sent earlier.

Ok, so can someone kindly confirm that for the First 90 days of my dtv do I physically need to go into immigration office in Bangkok to complete the TM47 and physically hand it in, or can I do this all online? I am unclear because of mixed information out on the internet.

Kindly let me know

You can do it by mail, but you have to post it 14 days before the due date

100% sure physically, there was an email from immigration that confirmed this recently, every time you enter to Thailand, the first notification has to be in person.

How does this work if you stay in hotels?
Romain ****
@Shannon ******
just do tm47 with your current hotel at the time you report. Make sure they register your tm30 and ideally ask them to print the online stuff showing they did it for your

There would have been an option to send the 90 day report by mail, but you asked too late... It needs to be sent 14 days prior to your 90th day, so that's no longer an option. You have to visit Immigration in person.

not for the first 90 day report of each entry, only in person.

You can do the first by mail.

@Jim *******
that’s what I heard before but recently I saw an answer from immigration that said that first time has to be in person only.

I do every 90-day report by mail, I've never once reported in person. Mail works fine. I can't even be bothered using the online system, because if it fails, it's too late to do it by mail. The mail system never fails. Costs about 70 baht and about minutes at your local post office

What is the address you sent it too in Bangkok?

Did you just complete the TM47 for and sign it, and include only that in the mail, or did you also include a copy of passport or anything else?

All the instructions are right here

I see a big drawback of this method : they send back the document that will be needed later at the address you register, which in my case will be a random hotel. But as a DTV holder I don’t have a fixed address, I’m just traveling around. For this reason I guess the in person application will be compulsory 😱

I'm also DTV holder but maintain an apartment in Bangkok. I travel extensively but for immigration purposes I have been at the same address for seven years. In your case yes, you'd have to do it on a case by case situation

@Jim *******
did you do it that way also after exit and come back to Thailand ?

@Romain ***
Every time. I'm certainly not going to waste almost a day travelling right across Bangkok for a 90-day report. The post office is two minutes walk and has a photocopy service. I use EMS and the letter is tracked, so I know it reaches immigration.

@Jim *******
very interesting, I saw about this in immigration webpage but thought it was considered same as online. It’s says you should do it at least 15 days before, when do you usually send the mail ?

@Romain ***
I post it

days prior to due date via EMS so it's postmarked the date and is tracked. Immigration cannot claim they didn't receive it. I've used this process for years, hasn't failed once. I won't even try the online system. No point. It would save me at most 15 minutes and 70 baht, and with the thought that it might get rejected

You must do it between 2 weeks before and 1 week after the 90 days, physically, at Bangkok immigration lak si. You need to get tm30 receipt from your owner, hopefully he registered you from the beginning. Another option is to leave the country and come back to reset the 90 days

Lak Si office does 90 day reports?

@Wannikea ********
NOT for the DTV Visa... that's done at CW Chaengwattana immigration office.

I just checked on immigration website and they say this :

Report Section , The Government Complex Commemorating His Majesty the King’s 80th Birthday Anniversary, 5th December, B.E. 2550(2007) Building B, South Zone, Chaeng Wattana Road, Thung Song Hong Subdistrict, Lak Si District, Bangkok

check in tm47 website to make sure but I guess that should be logical as you’re on a short term visa

I've been living in the country for 11 years solid

whatever how many years, DTV is considered as tourist visa so I believe tm47 may be at lak si. Need to check

Immigration has a good page regarding the 90 day report:
*******************************************
John **********
Yes. If you spend 90 days inside Thailand you must do a 90 day report
John **********
@Alex ******
90. It's why it's called a 90 day report
John **********
@Alex ******
if you are here on a tourist visa or a visa exempt entry you don't need to do a 90 day report. You need to be on an entry that allows you to stay more than 90 days to do a report
Will ************
Yes you MUST go to the immigration office where your TM30 is registered for your first 90 day report every time you enter Thailand
