Why Pattaya when you have Children?

You can not open a bank account on anything other than a long term visa so best get it in your own Country to save a wasted trip.

Because if you do the 30 first then you can get another 60 by leaving and flying back in.

Go to immigration and extend for 30 days more, it's easy and costs 1900 baht, then after that you can do a border run to Laos.

If you are both Non Thai's then you will need to show 800,000 each and possibly some to cover the Children too, if one of you is retirement age then it's possible to get a retirement visa showing just 800k the other partner could get a student visa to learn Thai and when that finishes ( usually 6 months) then 'follow' the retirement visa holder with a dependant visa.
