Sorry, I don´t mean to hijack the op, but I have a related question. What if you are renting a condo around the year and paying monthly rent. And you have a rental contract for that. Will that do? Or do you really still need to make a booking with some hotel and use that info?
I live in Chiang Mai. I got a covid extension about 2 months ago at the Chiang Mai immigration. They don´t need that letter from the embassy. They will hand out a piece of paper that you just sign. That paper states that your embassy will not give the letter. This is normal procedure here at Chiang Mai. Happened to me and a handfull of my friends. Immigration offices have different policies, some are more relaxed like the Chiang Mai imm. And by the way there are 2 different immigration offices here in Chiang Mai. If you plan to come over, use the main imm office next to the air port.
Thanks a million, guys, I feel I got all the info I was after (even though James Miller has not dropped his "verdict" in yet... ) 555 🙂 only joking a bit... Anyway, case happily closed and I know what to do now. Cheers ;)
So I have herd, yeah. I will play safe here as it is no big deal for me (or the manager of this palce...) to go visit the immigration office. The manager, I am certain, have notified the imm within the 24 hours since I last arrived. I´m not the only farang living here... But I just need the receipt of a new TM.30 form for the covid extension application then...
Chiang Mai immigration is one of the easiest ones and for certain reasons they actually remember/know me (friendly connections and friendships...). But for sure, better paly safe. As always in Thailand. And especially now, with covid, when things keep on changing...
even, if my address here in Thailand did not change. And I have a monthly rental contract for the exact same palce and room that is valid. Has bee the situation for about 7 years or so... And I have been paying for the rent all that time (around 14 months between 2020-2021) I was away in Finland.
Are you absolutely sure the rules state every single time you return to your home in Thailand, you need a new TM.30 from?
What if I show them the old TM.30 I have together with the letter that supports it. Like the other moderator just wrote?
My address have not changed for at least 7 years. But as I mentioned, I visit Finland every year. I have a monthly rental contract to my room and pay the rent every month, around the year, no matter where I am.
What you just wrote crossed my mind too. But I was unsure and started to be doubtfull...
That´s why I made the post.
But now I already got 2 different answers... Let´s wait a bit more for more input...
Yeah, been there and done that couple of times. But so it used to be in Helskinki Finland as well.
They introduced the new E-visa last November.
Funny thing happened. Me and my brother sent our passports with all the other required stuff to the Thai embassy by mail on the exact same day. They granted me the TR-visa the old way: stamp in the passport. But not so with my brother. They sent his passport back and told him to apply the new E-visa online... The rules had just changed the day they went through our cases... But different staff, different end results...
