Been a while since my last visa trip abroad, so, what are the requirements to obtain a non immigrant visa o (parent of Thai child), mainly in regards to finances. i remember each consulate having different requirements, so I'm considering either Phnom Penh or London.

Is there any difference to how I'd apply, does the Thai pass need to be done before visiting the consulate or is it done after getting the visa?

Any help would be great.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a Non-Immigrant Visa O as a parent of a Thai child, you must meet specific financial requirements which include a 400,000 THB deposit in a Thai bank account for the one-year extension. The application process differs by location; in Cambodia, applications must be made in person at the embassy, whereas in the UK, you can apply online and receive your visa via email. Additionally, you should check the Thai Embassy website for detailed requirements.

I'd say one of the biggest differences is that in Cambodia all visa applications must be done in person at the embassy.

In UK, everything is done online and you receive your visa in e-mail.

Yeah, been there and done that couple of times. But so it used to be in Helskinki Finland as well.

They introduced the new E-visa last November.

Funny thing happened. Me and my brother sent our passports with all the other required stuff to the Thai embassy by mail on the exact same day. They granted me the TR-visa the old way: stamp in the passport. But not so with my brother. They sent his passport back and told him to apply the new E-visa online... The rules had just changed the day they went through our cases... But different staff, different end results...

If in the UK or Cambodia ...just go on the Thai Embassy website and meet the requirements for the Non O as Father of Thai child.

If granted that gives you 90 days on arrival into Thailand

To extend that for one year as father of Thai child requires 400,000 deposit into a Thai bank account in your name.

Along with other extension requirements. Ask your local Thai Immigration office for their requirements list.

It will help if you tell us where you are now ? As you mention UK and Cambodia to obtain a visa.
