Hi all,

And good day to everyone. I have a "covid-extension" related question and would be extremely gratefull if some kind soul could give me correct info concerning my situation.

Ok. To start out with, I rent an apartment around the year in Chiang Mai and have been doing so for the past 7 years or so (same address, same room). I visit Finland once or twice a year, every year. But I never ask for a new TM.30 when I return cause I have never needed it for anything. Around 7 years back I was in Thailand with an ED-visa as I was studying at the local university. Did the 90-day reporting and reneved my visa every year. But they never asked for the TM.30 at the Chiang Mai immigration for that...

After my graduation, I have entered Thailand a few times with a TR-visa. And I think I actually needed the TM.30 for applying for the TR- visa back in 2019 in Penang, Malaysia.

The Last time I returned Thailand on 8.12.2021 on a TR-visa again. I was in Finland for mre than one year but still rented my apartment here for the whole time.

I already went and got the one month extension stamp on my visa. Now I´m thinking of going to the local immigration to apply for the covid extension.

I have an old TM.30 receipt from 2019 I think it is... (first picture). I asked the manager downstairs for a new one for the above mentioned purposies. The next day she provided me with this peace of paper (picture 2).

My question is, am I good with these documents as far as tm.30 goes? Or do I need to ask the manager of this serviced appartment where I live, to go to the immigration with her id-card, fill out some forms and give me a brand new TM. 30 receipt?

I may have forgot to mention some important and related info and perhaps I was a bit unclear explaining my situation so please, feel free to ask me any further questions.

Thank you so much :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires whether their existing TM.30 documents from 2019 and a newly provided receipt are sufficient for applying for a COVID-19 visa extension after being away for over a year. Responses clarify that if the user left Thailand, previous TM.30 notifications are void, and they may need to obtain a new TM.30 registered by their apartment manager. However, some comments suggest they may still be able to use the proof of residence provided.

And with these wise words "Anyway, case happily closed and I know what to do now. Cheers 😉" I can close it for commenting.

Things do not keep on changing due to covid, Immigration made an extra service for those who are stranded, all the other Immigration rules and regulations did not change.

Thanks a million, guys, I feel I got all the info I was after (even though James Miller has not dropped his "verdict" in yet... ) 555 🙂 only joking a bit... Anyway, case happily closed and I know what to do now. Cheers ;)

If you did not change, your old notification of address is still valid.

The letter support your old notification, I would say you can use both to show your address. No need to download an app, register the address and make a new registration.

My address have not changed for at least 7 years. But as I mentioned, I visit Finland every year. I have a monthly rental contract to my room and pay the rent every month, around the year, no matter where I am.

What you just wrote crossed my mind too. But I was unsure and started to be doubtfull...

That´s why I made the post.

But now I already got 2 different answers... Let´s wait a bit more for more input...

And many thanks for your answer 🙂

Only option to be sure is to visit the Immigration Office and ask their advice.

Please let us know what their answer is.

Chiang Mai immigration is one of the easiest ones and for certain reasons they actually remember/know me (friendly connections and friendships...). But for sure, better paly safe. As always in Thailand. And especially now, with covid, when things keep on changing...

Thanks again :)

If you left the country, any TM30 you had is no longer valid.

The 2nd piece of paper is not a TM30 and if they ask you for one, they will not accept that instead.

even, if my address here in Thailand did not change. And I have a monthly rental contract for the exact same palce and room that is valid. Has bee the situation for about 7 years or so... And I have been paying for the rent all that time (around 14 months between 2020-2021) I was away in Finland.

Are you absolutely sure the rules state every single time you return to your home in Thailand, you need a new TM.30 from?

What if I show them the old TM.30 I have together with the letter that supports it. Like the other moderator just wrote?

And thanks for your input as well :)

the actual law says you must report your address within 24 hours of arriving at any place in Thailand you will be staying at. Since you left the country it's no longer eligible since you arrived back home again.

Some immigration offices even require you to file another TM30 any time you spend 1 night away from home when you return.

So I have herd, yeah. I will play safe here as it is no big deal for me (or the manager of this palce...) to go visit the immigration office. The manager, I am certain, have notified the imm within the 24 hours since I last arrived. I´m not the only farang living here... But I just need the receipt of a new TM.30 form for the covid extension application then...
