the only time i ever paid more was going to the airport, which 50,000 kip. and thats about 200 baht. I dont know how far away you stayed from the Thai embassy, but I was located near the Mekong River and every time I was able to negotiate the price to 25,000 kip (100 baht) to take me there.

Yes 400 Baht is expensive, the thai embassy is not that far so you need to negotiate start from 20 baht and work your way up. they normally accept around 80-100 baht

The Multiple Entry Tourist Visa is only available to apply for in your home country. and it is only valid for use within 6 months after its issued. How long will you be away from Thailand after your 6 weeks stay? and when you return how long do you plan on staying?

No you need to get the tourist visa in your passport before you arrive in Thailand. If your already in Thailand then you just get the 30 day free, but instead of spending 1900 baht to extend that for only 30 days... I would recommend to use that money to travel to a border country like Malaysia or Laos and the 1000 baht to apply for Tourist visa at Thai embassy there and come back for an additional 60 days.

What I learned is if staying more than 30 days... Buy the Tourist visa for 1000 baht.. Because if you enter for free on a 30 day visa exempt, you need to pay 1900 Baht to extend your stay fo a total of 60 days.... so it makes sense to just get the 60 day tourist visa for only 1000 baht!

Charlotte Kosaseang They will question you because the system will alert them when you have 6 Visa exemptions, so they will ask you questions like why are you coming in and out of Thailand so much? At the very most they will ask you to show proof of funds. If you can provide that, It's rare that you will get denied entry as I have over 13 exemption stamps in my passport, and that's because I only stayed for 4 days and traveled and came back a lot of time. I only get a Tourist Visa when I plan to stay more than 30 days and they understand that. If they see you are staying for 30 days and extending for 30 days multiple times, then that will raise red flags.

Visa exemption is unlimited by air so if you fly back without a Tourist Visa it's not a problem, but I read a lot about Thai Embassys rejecting Visa applications after 4 Tourist Visas... Even if you go to another Embassy, they will see that your passport has "too many", so the only way around this is to apply for a new Passport and have completely blank new pages, then when they go through your passport they won't see any Visas at all and you will be able to get 4 more.

Michael Hay II Thats for a Thai tourist visa. This is for Laos visa on arrival before entry at the border which costs 1500฿ or $35.
Jason ******
For the Laos Visa you can pay 1500฿ or $35. If you exchange 1000฿ for US at currency exchange, you will get $35, so in theory, the cost of the Laos Visa would only be 1000฿ compared to 1500฿ if you play your cards right

The only difference between having a METV is with that you can stamp out of Thailand and back in the same day Compared to SETV, you need to spend 2 days in another country and go to a Thai embassy and apply for a new Visa.
