hey guys this is another typical tourist visa question. I have to leave the country by the 7th of march, this will be my first visa run. I am planning to go either to Vientiane or Savannakhet to apply for another tourist visa. In terms of cheapest options( Bus + Hotel) which one would it be and is it possible to pay for a Lao visa in Thai baht. Appreciate all the help given. Looking forward to a Tod Daniels or Robert Lagas answer.
Edit - I am based in Bangkok so need to travel from Bangkok

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is gearing up for their first visa run before their tourist visa expires on March 7th. They are considering travel to either Vientiane or Savannakhet and seeking the cheapest transportation and accommodation options from Bangkok. Additionally, they are inquiring if they can pay for the Lao visa with Thai baht. Responses suggest taking a budget flight to Udon Thani followed by a taxi to Vientiane, mention the Lao visa costs in baht and USD, and confirm that baht is generally accepted in Laos.
(y) agree 100% the earlier flights to Udon get you there in plenty of time to hoof it to the Nong Khai border then cross into Lao and get to the consulate before they stop accepting applications
And the reverse is true too, you can get your passport, get back across the border into thailand and back to the Udon Thani airport in plenty of time to catch the early evening flights back to bangkok.
For the Laos Visa you can pay 1500฿ or $35. If you exchange 1000฿ for US at currency exchange, you will get $35, so in theory, the cost of the Laos Visa would only be 1000฿ compared to 1500฿ if you play your cards right
Bus from Krabi to Bangkok takes 12 hours. If you like cheap options at least explain from where you would like to depart. I know the bus lines from where I live but have no idea about north of Thailand.
