Even though it was approved for some applications, maybe it has something to do with being advertised specifically for DTV applicants. There was a report from someone who was denied based on muay thai because the embassy had an issue with the course marketing itself as a guarantee for DTV approval.

sean jones Maybe your decades in Thailand have made you intolerant of criticism. Just confused by the inconsistency of having no requirements to re-enter for a five-year period (as it so far seems) and introducing unexpected requirements for extension at about six months after the visa was introduced.

sean jones I wasn't responding to you but a visa has an expiration date upon which you'd re-qualify for a new visa with the same terms.

The requirements suggest the visa is no longer valid if you do not comply with the document re-certification. I mean valid in the practical sense that it cannot be used. Yes, I know that the period of stay is 180 days because it says so on the entry stamp.

Why make the visa for five years if you have to go through this every six months? Clearly, it's just a six-month visa which they called a five-year visa for no reason at all.

They don't have access to your original applcation materials, do they? You won't be disqualified from an extension if you just change jobs, start a remote business, or choose another of the SP options, right? Or this is still unknown...
Shandy ********
Did your work contract specify authorization for remote work specifically?

Is the Upwork profile just to show past work? Maybe some evidence of current continuing contracts with clients, to show that you will continue earning money, would strengthen your application.

From my own experience trying to use the soft power route in Taipei and other accounts about Taipei applications, they do not simply accept the 500K in accounts. They tend to require proof of income. It seems like their willingness to accept proof of funds without income is at their discretion.

Anonymous participant I also went to Taipei, and they did have your passport in their possession whle reviewing your application. But I have an employer. I'm not a freelancer.
