nothing new. This rule has been existing since 2019. However if you used an agent to front the funds, your Immigration will ignoere this rule. If you used own funds, they want you to show them your bank book 3 months later

yes, and I strongly suspect it is. . . . . Because in order to go from the second year out of a former Non-Imm-O/A Visa into the next "1-year Extension of Stay Permit", you need to transfer your 800,000 THB from your home bank acocunt to your newly opened Thai bank account for the first time in two years (because in the first two years out of a Non-O/A Visa, you were allowed to keep the money in your home bank). Now that's what the complaint is about. She needs to move the money from her country to a Thai bank account in order to be able to apply for the 12-months extension of temporary stay permit. Her wording is absolutely confusing and wrong: she does NOT "extend" or "renew" any visa. She is applying for the extension of her STAY PERMIT

another clever dick telling others they are clever dicks?! 😂😂 A visa can't neither be renewed nor extended. A Non-Imm-O visa epxires when you ENTER Thailand. All you can get "reneweec" or "extended" is your STAY PERMIT, you do not have a visa any more. Before you call others clever dicks., you should touch your own nose

however being in Thailand on a tourist visa, you cannot get a Thai bank account opened any more. It used to be possible before February 2025, but since then it's not possible not even by an agent (only ONE agent in Bangkok is known for being able to do it if you buy the whole "package" and it costs 60,000 THB upwards . . . . . . You need to have entered on a 90-days Non-imm-O family visa to be able to open a Thai bank account which you need for showing 400,000 THB in it.

you can call yourself lucky, as you can read from the above poster what a pain in the A it is, to get foreign marriage documents translated, legalized and co-legalized inside Thailand 🙂
