I opened one last month at SCB. You just have to be patient and respectful. Go branch to branch and ask nicely. If they say no or ไม่ได้ just move to the next branch. You just have to get lucky.

it sometimes says merchant not found. I also don’t trust my money being there. I was lucky to get a bank account so I don’t have to worry

it’s the same for me I don’t drive nor intend to drive, but TTB does require it. I tried to used my state ID from Australia, but they require a Thai drivers licence. It looks like someone at TTB headquarters just made that decision and that’s the requirement. I intend to just get a motorcycle licence to open the account as it doesn’t seem too tricky.

I’ve been going around Chiang Mai also. Only bank that gave me list of requirements was TTB Central Airport. They want

- Passport

- DTV Visa

- Lease agreement

- House owner’s id copy with signature

- Signed copy of house owners house registration

- Thai driver’s licence

- Proof of work/education

I was not asked for income when applying with business registration at Sydney consulate

just self employed. I just went to the ABN lookup website and generated the pdf for my ABN and attached that with my portfolio and remote work policy. I just submitted my bank statement which had income from PayPal. No proof of earning otherwise asked for (I had invoices to give if they wanted)
