Extendable in theory, not in practice. It's kind of a hoax.

Problem is that the Dtv is kind of wrongly categorized as a tourist visa. Most tourist visas don't dement 500k bath bank deposit and income requirements as well as proof of income and a duration of 5 years. For me that makes it a long stay visa where it's reasonable to need and be able to obtain a bank account. Not a very good way to attract digital nomads.

Well usually banks make money from deposited money? You can save by transferring money cheaply when you exchange rates are favorable. It also makes it easier to withdraw larger or smaller amounts. QR payment is also a plus. I don't see why one would be opposed to being able to open bank account. It's better to have the option to do it than to not. You can always chose not to use such a service. From my experience It's a game changer to have a bank account here. Not long ago it was ok to open account with a tourist visa. Then some bank office went corrupt and now everyone is treated like a potential money launderer.

Yes I believe myself from my own experience from staying quite a long time in Thailand. I belive most Dtv holders will stay in Thailand quite a bit and are not regular tourists. Having a bank account wastly facilitates an extended stay in Thailand and also saves on transaction fees. Why not argue for the betterment of Dtv visa holders situation than the contrary.

Anonym deltagare 124Doesn't necessarily have to be like wich is proven by the fact that it didn't use to be the case. Short term tourist I agree it's no need for a bank account. But for a Dtv holder it surely would make things a lot easier.

This is also absurd, you invest in property in Thailand but can't open an account on that basis.

Reasonably one should be able to open a bank account on such a visa as Dtv that allows for such a long term duration of stay over 5 years. This whole thing needs to be amended and is another hit for the tourism confidence in Thailand. Making unnecessary complicated to stay as a digital nomad for example.
