You should have posted the picture that you commented in an answer right in the post.

Then everybody would have told you that you do not have a re-entry permit and need to get one before leaving the country.

Either at the immigration or right before the passport checks at the airports.

Yes. And many other ways work too.

What I strongly advise against is using an agent to get around the 800k requirement!

All notaries must do it. And lots of lawyers are notary.

Kasikorn doesn’t have many of those.

Bangkok bank on Monday: “I need a statement of the whole 2024”….. “ok we do it and you come back next week to pick it up”.

Kasikorn: 5 minutes and I had the statement 😂

But to be honest, I like the Thai banks more than European banks.

They don’t turn off their computers on the weekend. Or can you send money on the weekend? I can’t in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. (“Reason” of course is that every transaction must be checked for laundering and that can only be done by humans 🤥)

I read an article that said they are looking into millions of accounts where the phone number‘s owner doesn’t match the account.

My feeling says, that many expats have their phone registered under the wife’s name because it’s sooo much easier.

And that is reason to suspect fraud or scam.

Just do a comparison at the same time. Then think again.

I’m stating facts and I’m ready to prove it. I don’t have Schwab anymore (never had personally, but my daughter had), but chatGPT says 0.70 baht difference.

For your 800k the difference would be almost
*****
baht.

But I can accept that you believe getting an excellent rate, because normal banks are a ripoff compared to Schwab.

Edit: forgot to add that wise takes a fee of 44.76 baht per transaction

Oh yeah. I forgot that it all depends on the specific person. They don’t like your face, you can be Michael Schuhmacher and won’t get the license ;)

He might need to open an alternative account yes.

But I would go with revolut or so.

Schwab has an awful exchange rate. Fees are never the reason to use wise, the exchange rate makes the difference ;)
