 I fail to understand how you have spent 10 months in Thailand and you don’t understand that visa exempt entry’s and tourist visas are for tourism! Not for long term stays!

 in what way are they being strict? I had 2 friends fly in last week with separately with quite a few visa exempt entry’s but no extensions or border bounces and no questions asked. I know it’s down to the IO but are people being questioned even without exemptions and border bounces?

That would be pointless since the British embassy don’t handle visa processing. All done through VFS Global.

What should my friend do about his Thai visa overstay and getting a new passport?

How will he be able to get any stamps/visas in neighbouring countries if he has no passport pages available? He needs to go back to his home country and get a new passport. Honestly it’s beyond belief that he’s just waited it out on overstay! Shows a complete lack of respect for the rules and regulations here.
