I guess each to their own. I live in Bkk so I guess its handy for me, and quick. I use the time and money to other stuff. Just arrived in Phnom Penh today, after spending some time in Hanoi, Hue, Hoian,Saigon,Can Tho and Chau Doc. Will visit Siem Reap for a few days before returning to Bkk. But I am old though so I make a timed appointment at Chaeng Wattana and once a year I am in and out in about 2 hours. May then pop into Central somwhere with my wife for a spot of lunch. Easy peasy!

I don't understand why you need to go all that way. I do my annual renewal in Bkok for 1900. Why the flights, hotels,visas,taxis etc?
