LAOS / Luang Prabang Visa Bounce //

Hello all, and thanks to those who can provide a feedback. I need to do a Visa Bounce and I am thinking about going (flying) to Luang Prabang instead of Vientiane. Similar flights, different environment (I am interested in the landscape and culture). Do you have any experience in that? Would you reccomend this? thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the prospect of traveling to Luang Prabang, Laos for a visa bounce instead of opting for Vientiane. Many participants express their positive experiences in Luang Prabang, highlighting its cultural and historical significance, despite noting that it can be crowded with tourists during peak season. While it is mentioned that you cannot obtain a visa in Luang Prabang, one commenter clarifies that with a multi-entry tourist visa, an entry stamp can still be obtained. Additionally, travel options between Luang Prabang and Vientiane are suggested, including a speedy train and slow boat routes.

Fantastic place, worth a visit anyway. Dont know what kind of visa you want but when you fly back you get 45 days anyway.
Paul *******
Why are you assuming she's flying back? A large percentage of Thailand-Laos travel is by land and the 45 day visa exemption applies to land arrivals too
Steve *******
Good shout but you cant get a visa in Luang Prabang.

i am on multiple entry tourist visa so I should be able to get the entry stamp (no need for the visa). Does it sound correct?

Yes. Multi-entry you're good to go.

You can go to Luang Prabang and then to Vientiane by speed train, it takes just 2 hours. Or if you don't need Thai consulate and you have time, you can go by slow boat to HuaiXai and cross the border there

LP is a great place, but for me , way to crowded with tourists in the high season
Paul *******
There are hardly any tourists in Luang Prabang compared to Phuket where you live.

Luang Prabang is a wonderful place. Great architecture, temples, history and the mekong. Hard to beat.

Luang Prabang is a great place to stay for a couple of days. Sure if they had a consulate there would be a lot more people using it.

Vietaine in my opinion is a sh!th@le

what is so bad about Vientiane? I love the place, though it's not that special. I generally go there on business or use it as a transit stop, hence I've been there probably a good 20-25 times. In fact, I was just there last week.

Vientiane is fine, just that it can't compare to Luang Prabang in terms of aesthetic beauty

@Paul ******
like i said in my opinion. Been there about five times dont want to go back

thanks for the feedback, as I don’t need the consultant services (METV multi entrance) I think I can prioritize other aspects (without compromising the outcome of the trip which is the stamp)

Great restaurants some interesting temples, a musuem which i love there descriptions of Americans 555.

Nice evening market. Definetly a place i would recomend to visit.

Morning alms by monks has now turned into a bit of a tourist thing which is a shame, i used to like sitting at main crossroads with bagutte and coffee watching it all happen from a distance but now there are loads of people with mobile phones bothering them trying to get the best photo.
