What should I do if my flight is canceled right before my visa exemption expires in Thailand?

Hi everyone!

My visa exempt runs out on the 14th this month.

My flight is on the 13th.

My airline has a history of cancelling flights last minute and with the situation in Taiwan at the moment I'm checking my mails hourly.

What can I do if they cancel my flight in the morning of the 13th. Immigration is closed as far as I know from the 13th to the 16th.

If I go straight on Monday to them and explain the situation, will I be able to extend to 30 days?

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about their visa exemption expiring just before their flight on the 13th, and the possibility of the airline cancelling the flight. They seek advice on how to handle the situation if their flight is canceled, particularly regarding extending their visa upon arrival at immigration after the closure period.

I know this may sound like a stupid question, but why in the hell would you wait until the last minute? Not like you didn't know immigration would be closed for the holidays. It is no wonder at times many Thai think farangs are stupid. Guess what, you made the list.

I did read your post, and if the airline has a history of last minute cancellation, which you seem to be aware of, then why would'nt you take steps to insure you have no problems?? Better yet, fly an airline that does'nt cancel frequently. As I said, you made the list.

I booked the flight four months ago and paid over 2000€. I'm gonna buy another ticket, burn 2000€ or more again, or what? I didn't say it has been cancelled yet. Found out just yesterday, that they have a history of cancelling.

Since you don't contribute anything intelligent, I'd suggest you p!$$ off!

Funny how the story changes when you get called on an issue. Why didn't you say in your post you just found out? You are still on the list and you can pi$$ off.

Avoid Taiwan if possible. All those Chinese and American jet fighters in the sky. Makes you wonder.

In worst case , fly to another country from Bkk , and buy the ticket when you get into your described problem. Like a plan B or C. Prepare for that, check which near country ( and therefore cheap ticket) doesnt need a visa.

Ok. Spotted something that may make a difference in answers here. Your profile suggests that you’re from the US but your name suggests that your passport country may not be. Can you confirm your passport country.

You could go and get an extension in the next couple of days just to cover yourself

If you haven't taken your 30 day extension yet and you go on the first day they are open (beware, it's going to be a mad house that day), you'll get a stamp that says something along the lines of "overstay when office was closed" and they'll process the extension as normal.
