Yes the downside with Non O is that you’ll need to seasoning some of your own money in a Thai bank (800K baht) unless your embassy provides you an affidavit letter regarding income. But it’s still your own money in the end of the day. Privilege you just pay for and none of benefits are defendable unless your not passed 50 years.

With a Irish passport you’ll get your 60 days free stamp upon arrival. I guess you also have a retur or onward ticket within these 8 days so you’ll be fine regarding this requirement too. (If your airline ask during check-in)

Ok, good luck for Aussie people past 60 years then. In Norway you could only get taxable 4-5% interest at the moment. Normally less as the general interest now is quite high. I got your point. (The amount has to be related to 800K baht x 5 months and 400K for the rest.)

That’s up to you. Several people who retires has this amount and more available when they retire and it’s really not that much interest to loose in some months. So the option is to apply for a Non O-A visa with a police check up, medical certificate and a $ 100K USD medical insurance approved by the Thai authorities, start transferring 65K baht a month immediately for minimum a year. Leave and re-enter on a tourist exemption/visa and a apply for a Non O in country at one of the immigrations who will accept this method OR apply for a simple Non O before you come without and other requirements than age and income. Apply at any immigration. Seasoning 800K baht for 5 months and 400K baht for one year while you do consecutive transfers of income every month OR as myself and citizen of several nations, simply get a affidavit letter regarding income to fulfil the financial requirements. (If you can meet the required income requirements).

Correct it’s just touch and go for the income and also just recirculate if you wish, the comments was regarding the 800K baht who is untouchable for 5 months and the 400K for 7 months the first year.

You’re completely wrong,

is always advising people to stay away from the agent train and get a legitimate stay in Thailand. Look up his posts and you will see.

And I think u you your post is interesting. It might and probably is possible in Bangkok, but it’s not possible in Chiang Mai or Buriram and probably not immigrations who also requires two months seasoning of the 800K baht for the initial Non O as an example Jomtien and some others either.
