Oops, no coffee yet. I just re-read my comment and realised I completely forgot to mention it was the TM30 I was asking about.

You can just leave it blank or write 60 day covid extension. One of the extra forms you fill out for the covid extension asks for the reason. On that form I ticked the second box 'embassy not issuing visa extension letters' (can't remember the exact wording)

Thanks Paul, I may well do that as the air BNB was expensive and no point getting in bother over renting a cheap hotel room
