I got pulled over a few years back, showed the copper my IDL and he said what is that? Maybe a one off, since then I never got one with no problems.

I'll double check that, most visa needs to be first used in 90 day. Better safe than sorry. Just call the Thai embassy, hopefully they can give you a straight answer
