If you keep living in Thailand on visa exemptions, they will start asking you to get an appropriate visa. Full stop.

I recently calculated $2,200 USD to live nicely in Bangkok for me if I was single. (Not including "set up costs".) This does not include out of country travel or any insurance. I could probably bring that down to $2,000 flat if I ate less western food and decided to spent less for accommodation. Travel would add $1,000 a month easily.

Sadly, even to VISIT is a hell of a time. I know thais that have a hard time just transiting THROUGH the USA.

You would probably have an easier time though, if you are already married before initiating the process.

If you have a long stay NON tourist visa, you can put your Thailand address.

I swear my driver did it in just under 90 minutes about a year ago. Granted, it was about midnight, and the roads were relatively empty. But I did fear for my life a few times. 🤣

If you only want to stay for 3 months, just come visa exempt, then either get an extension before your time is up (60 days), or go visit another country for a few days, then re enter Thailand for another 60 day exemption.

Probably a belated ?? "Customer background check" of some sort?

We in the banking world know the 3 letter acronym very well. KYC - Know Your Customer. Know where their main sources of income/deposits are coming from, and any large regular withdrawals, etc.

Unless you go FULL 2 week millionaire, then that should cover you for 2 weeks.

If you want a number, I will say 45 minutes.

I have done it in 10 minutes without luggage, and I have done it in 90 minutes WITH luggage. Depends on:

- number of flights at the same time,

- number of officers working,

- the number of people who "haven't done it all right",

- and how far you have to walk from your plane (sometimes it is 600 meters I think). That walk itself can be 15 minutes for fairly fit people.
