Mostly predjudice. Often in Thailand the lighter the skin, the higher the status. Similar to a caste system, only colour based. You know the caste system?

Thanks for your answers gentlemen. My previous long stay was Retirement Visa extensions. I also had ME Spouse Visas obtained in Australia and Vietnam. So I am not familiar with other options in country. IO gave me grief this exempt entry while I sort my options out so at least I know that I don't have to leave and wait for a Visa. Good to know my options now.
