Perfect example of the subtle differences of how English is expressed depending on the person's experience. When English speakers make note of these subtle differences, they are in fact displaying their lack of experience. For those of us that have wide experience the attention is annoying speaking for myself only, of course.

The US has only about 5 areas where the accent and phrasing/ word choice is much different. Generally, nobody has a problem being understood. Not the case in the UK.

It only means you have been communicating in English as your primary language since birth. Where you were exposed to English has effects on how you understand and express it. English is different everywhere. It is common in the UK for native English speakers not able to understand each other. That opinion has been expressed to me often by Brits. As an American that works primarily with Scots and some English for >28 years I agree. That is nearly untrue for people in the US.

Being fluent does not necessarily mean the accent is correct.

Correct and she refuses to disclose her Green Card and US Citizenship applications possibly because as evidence indicates it would prove she violated the law in failing to report she worked in as has been proven against Tourist Visa restrictions. Which if accurate makes her a criminal if the government chooses to prosecute her. Which we all know The Donald would not allow. Given her participation of the Obama birther conspiracy, her behavior is egregious. Of course, Trump supporters could care less if that particular law & order is important as they support brown people being deported.
