they will ask for company registration, invoices to clients or contracts and proof that the same invoices were paid. So no just a portfolio won't be enough

It's a tough one. The second option is good but in my case I was asked for up to date company registration so this might be a problem for you. Route 1 is also good, maybe you could ask for a letter mentioning that you can work from anywhere?
Maybe some other people have been accepted without company? I don't know where you are from but if having income up to a certain amount without business registration is legal in your country and you can show it, it might work?
