ok, you are perhaps correct. i had experience only at KUL, Malaysia and Hanoi, Vietnamn. I would guess the rule is the same for all embassies, but looks like Laotian has their own rules. Then appoligize for confusion

If you are officially employed, you can also ask HR for salary certificate showing that your salary is more than

baht a month, include at least 4 months of bank statement that show regular income payments. You can also attach your thai spouse salary certificate and sponsership letter as a supporting documents. For 1 year extension based on income, you will need income affiditive from the embassy, and a lawyer, so everything is done properly. If you go by 400 000 deposit, it can be any bank in the world, does not have to be thai bank for 90 days, for 1 year extension it has to be thai bank

No. DTV is considered as a long term tourist visa by Thai government and banks as well.
