I drop £10k from either my hsbc or my wise account (both registered in the uk) every other month with no problems. I do it in £10k increments so the bank don’t hassle me, I did £20k once and they wanted to know everything about what it was for and where it was going.
Had a few accounts with Kasikorn bank over 20 years and never had a limit on what I could transfer into the accounts, would seem strange to me that a bank wouldn’t want your money, but hey you never know out here :)
I live in the north (Phrae) and usually my time is taken up by building projects and work back in the UK so not technically retired yet.
Life is quiet up here, but there’s always some sort of social gathering or event to attend,
However in my spare time I love to visit the national parks, walking trails, waterfalls etc. The north is full of them. I’m not into beaches and much prefer the call of the forests and jungles :)
I opened 2 bank accounts at the Kasikorn bank on a 60 day tourist visa back in February this year. One to store my 400k and the other for daily use. I had been back in the country less than a week when I opened it.
It all depends on what information you hold. Im married to a Thai and are listed on her family house paper.
We have documents such as wedding certificates and house docs that date back 20+years.
I’m guessing that without these documents I wouldn’t have been able to open the account.
