The statement is historical info over the year to show you've kept the account within limits required.

The letter is basically saying you have an account and this is the balance.

They want to see the balance for each month, to satisfy themselves that the balance hasn't dropped below limits.

The letter confirms the balance at the time of issue.

it's the 800k route if he isn't married to a Thai, which can drop to 400k for the middle part of the visa but has to be back up to 800k.

The 400k route you mention requires marriage

Perhaps check with your bank. Depending on which branch you opened your account with and where you are asking, it can take 5 working days for them to process the internal paperwork. Others can do it all in a day...

he's correct 400k is the minimum. 800k the start and finish

they wanted proof of my address and accepted my TM30 and a avidavid from my partner, plus a signed copy of her ID.

there were plenty staff that speak good English.

Bangkok bank head office, wanted an "embassy-certified copy of my passport". For which I first needed to wait a week for an appointment. 2021.

He gets a Visa on arrival 15 days.

No need for entry permit

He will get a second visa on arrival when he comes back to Thailand.

But he will have to fly back.
