What are the requirements and advantages of obtaining a Non-O visa for retirement or marriage in Thailand before arriving?

If i'm to apply for the Non-O visa in Australia,i would prefer the option of showing the equivalent of 65k thai baht going into my account instead of 800k held for 3 months.Does this 65k p/m need to be from a pension or can it be from salary as i'll be working right upto leaving for Thailand? If so,is it still 3 months bank statements still or 12 months?
