Thanks, yes I'm expecting some people will quote bigger figures but they expect to retire in Thailand with the same lifestyle and eating habits they had back home in Western countries.
yes, I know, but I'm referring more to the long haul of retirement for 30+ years, is the 200k sufficient, assuming the monthly income might only be temporary.
Yes, I know the FX rates, I work in finance. The USD vs GBP isn't a big difference maker, I was referring more to the 200k of savings and how far that might go if the monthly income is uncertain or temporary.
Just asking, that's all. I don't know and wanted to ask. I'm talking about retirement for 30+ years, for a 50yo. Assuming she doesn't own property and the income might only be temporary, then she might have to rely more on the 200k, but I'm wondering how long that will last. Plus the high cost of health insurance or emergencies that arise after the age of 70.
who said anything about passports? Geniuses like you aren't very good at reading comprehension (nor spelling). π
This is about places to live or even visit (as the post that I'm replying to said), not passports. I'd much rather live in Thailand than in Canada. As do so many other Canadians in Thailand.
Thai people get that arrogant reply from the Canadian Embassy even when they're applying for a tourist visa to visit for 2 weeks! Even Thais who have jobs and property in Thailand are denied.
PS: I also have a European passport and I'd gladly give up the Canadian one if I had to choose between the two.
Geniuses like you promote Canada as the greatest country on earth while you stay far away from it on the other side of the world in a warmer, friendlier country like Thailand.
PSS: before you come at me with your "I'm a French speaker, so of course I will make spelling mistakes, you only speak English" lame excuse, I do in fact speak 2 other languages fluently (+ HSK 4 intermediate level in Mandarin) and did speak French very well after school so many years ago but already forgot that useless garbage a long time ago ππ
it's so arrogant and insulting, "We don't believe you will leave Canada" is the response the Canadian Embassy gives. Like someone would want to live in that cold sh*thole!
Yep, that's why I ask. There are so many retirees in Thailand and I have to assume some have been forced to close on their accounts back home. They might have had no choice but to move their assets to a Thai bank or move back home, or move assets to a 3rd country.
