gotcha, yeah for the application I submitted, they are insisting I show the balance has been maintained over three months. Thanks for your help. Sounds like I'll have to apply again from a neighboring country, as I would like to avoid the ticket prices back and forth from the US

thanks Jan. My funds are in a US account. It looks like I will have to bounce to Vietnam and apply for the visa in Dec, when the funds will have been in my account for three months. I can keep an accommodation in Chiang Mai during that time. Do you think this is my best path?

I did this, James. My funds were not in my US account for 3 months, as I just sold my home. I will be traveling to Thailand this month. Should I leave the country in Dec to apply again? At that time the funds will have been in my IS account for three months.

For the DTV, it just has to be 500k equivalent, correct? Since doing it out of country, you'll still have the money in your own currency?

Yes, DTV is the answer. If you have money in the bank, you can either get into a small class, which does not have to last for all of the years the visa is good for, or you can give evidence you have some form of online work.
