Absolutely. However, we have had cases where individuals were involved in motorbike accidents and it was not convenient for them to travel. In such situations, the only option was to extend their stay within the country through the Immigration Office. It can be difficult, but it is possible. In these cases, it is usually best to hire professionals who work with the Immigration Office on a regular basis and understand the process well.

The processing is almost the same as applying for a new visa. However, this is quite normal in Thailand — even with extensions for many Non-O visas, the procedure is often very similar to the process of applying for a new visa.

This is how some Thai immigration from the Phuket Immigration Office currently interprets the DTV visa regulations. In Thailand, interpretations can sometimes vary between provinces and even between individual immigration officers.

As many provinces and immigration offices exist, there can be different opinions and approaches to applying the rules. What works at the Bangkok Immigration Office may not always be applied in exactly the same way at the Phuket Immigration Office. This has often been the case in Thailand.

You certainly have the right to your own opinion, and we respect that.

However, if you currently hold a Workation DTV visa and find that extending it at the Phuket Immigration Office is difficult, you are welcome to join our program. We can assist you in extending your stay and switching to the Soft Power DTV extension directly at the Phuket Immigration Office.

Perhaps after going through the process yourself, you will gain your own experience and perspective.

Some of our former students initially joined the program as a simpler way to obtain the Soft Power DTV visa. After completing the program, they transitioned to their online freelance work and did not need to purchase additional Thai cooking or Muay Thai courses if they chose not to.

We have also had participants who originally obtained their DTV visa under the Workation purpose. When they later attempted to extend their stay for another 180 days at the Phuket Immigration Office, they found the process quite challenging. After joining the Soft Power course, they were able to extend their stay for 180 days through immigration without leaving the country.

Most of our students are digital nomads who work online. Some join the program simply because they become tired of working only on their laptops and want to experience hands-on, offline activities. Others use the program as a more straightforward pathway to maintain their 5-year DTV visa while avoiding complicated embassy requirements that they may find difficult to fulfill.

The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) is one visa type, not three separate visas.

On the official Thai e-visa system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand (thaievisa.go.th), the application form clearly shows:

Visa Type: DTV (Destination Thailand Visa)

Purpose of Visit: a dropdown with three options

Those options are:

Workcation (digital nomad / remote worker / freelancer)

Thai soft power activities (Muay Thai, culinary training, medical treatment, etc.)

Dependents (spouse and children under 20 of a DTV holder)

This means they are different purposes of visit within the same DTV visa, not separate visa types.
