Hi Jason, I would definitely recommend you go to a visa agent who will give you the best up to date advice. You will always get many many answers to your one question on this site, although very helpful and many answers can be correct, you will end up totally confused and it will not be in your best interest. I have just completed my retirement visa, bike & car driving licence with an agent. The major benefit of using an agent is that they will have all your documentation on file and any mistakes with paperwork will be their priority of correcting. The Thai visa laws are changing all the time. I've used One Stop Services in Pattaya (DETAILS BELOW) His name is Mark and he runs the agency with his wife. Pom. He will answer any questions you have by WhatsApp within 24 hrs. Brilliant service!
I had a True Sim for my retirement visa but when I went with my Thai wife to get a monthly payment plan they said that foreigners can't get a monthly plan. So I went to AIS, swapped my number to their service and now I have a 500 bht monthly plan with them. That evening a True representative rang me and asked why I had changed over and I told him the reason. So the moral of the story is-Farang can get a monthly contract!!
Ya, but Kenneth, you said its a dumb question and the guy wouldn't ask it if it was dumb. Its not dumb to him. Trouble is when people get a negative answer to a question it puts them off from asking again next time their stuck. Ok point taken!
Brandon Thurkettle Thanks, Brandon, but the agent i use is thoroughly upto date and he's told me any complications with renewing my 12 month retirement he will sort it out. I do appreciate your advice. Thanks
I went to my Kasikorn Bank yesterday August 5th. Transfered £12K into my Bangkok Bank. Needed to sign several lots of paperwork, needed passport and bank books. Took almost 45 min at the desk, they also needed my wife's I.D. I tried the same with the app but 50K is the limit and they advise you to go to the bank. All sorted now but it was abit of an effort. But the banks need to be sure because there is so much scamming and fraud going on and you don't want to loose your money. But I must say to everyone reading my post, there is one hell of alot of misinformation on this site, even from people who think they know all the visa rules. I've been misinformed at least 8 times. If you want to know the exact upto date visa rules, go and ask an agent as the rules are changing all the time!
Thanks Nongnuch. I will just explain what's happened and if you think there will be no problem. The agent fronted the 800K in April, I've been back to the UK and came back on July 25th I immediately put 65K in my Kasikorn Bank and over 500k in the Bangkok Bank which I can top up to 800K tomorrow if needed. Will this be OK?
