Police were adamant I had to have a letter from the embassy before they would make a report , The embassy seemingly can not provide such a letter. Even more bizarre I saw someone who had to get a letter from the embassy stating the embassy did not make such a letter...

UK embassy/consulates are an abomination ...

Correct .. I lost it changing trains along with phone. I knew within few minutes I had made the mistake and cancelled it immediately. I had no funds to move for a few days so walked to police station after 4 days and they would not do it without embo letter

buy the cheapest one way ticket outta Thailand you can find . Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur or Phnom phen $40-50 if booked in advance. Get a ticket you can cancel or buy a dummy ticket.. I've never had an issue using dummy tickets though no doubt someone has.
