TLDR : Answer Summary
The transition from walk-in applications for Thai tourist visas at embassies in Malaysia to an E-visa system is intended to begin on 10th October 2024, as per recent announcements. However, walk-ins reportedly ceased on 3rd October and there are concerns about potential delays in implementing the E-visa process due to logistical issues, especially with appointment scheduling at embassies. Many suggest checking official embassy Facebook pages for the most accurate updates.
What has been delayed is the piloting of rhe ETA for Thailand originally planned for December. I have seen posts where this has been confused with the eVisa.
E-visa is easy, make an account and fill in the questions, pay online and your E-visa will be delivered by mail, print it and go! It takes mostly just a few days to get the approval.
What documents you need to send .. Do I need to send documents showing where I'm staying , show proof of funds and a ticket out of the country. ๐ค. Just because I won't be staying in any one place , I'm gonna be firing up the Enfield and touring north Thailand with no set agenda ..
all what you need is shown on the website, you can deliver in parts, save it and go further the next day, also it depends on what kind of visa you want. Make sure there is enough money in your bank-account.
Thai embassies in the neighboring countries have discontinued handing out appointments for a physical visit to the embassy. You will encounter a few days if not more than a week, before you can apply at these embassies through the e-visa system
