Just before my latest Thai tourist visa expired I thought I would just fly to Phnom phen for few days to visit a friend then fly back in and get 60 days on arrival. I was denied entry , held in don muang immigration cells and made to return to Phnom phen , so I thought sod it and went to Malaysia partly because my passport pages were now full and I got 90 days on arrival ... I've been out Thailand now since 10th august .

Getting the new passport is proving to be a major headache (UK) paid more than three weeks ago and no progress has been made. I think I'll be stuck here until near December . Will I be able to get a visa on arrival after having been out the country 3 + months by time I return.

Due to having also lost my phone and access to my banks getting a tourist visa isn't an option as I've no means to prove proof of funds ...

I'm told from 4th October walk in tourist visa applications cease both here in kl and penang and from 10th it goes e visa ... I can't get the apps on new phone due to having lost old phone number .

Thoughts ...on what to do...appreciated . I suspect it'll be well into November by the time I finally get my new passport . Can't even go in person to UK embassy , online only , the GOV.UK website is abomination ... They just take me on never ending loop, with a different person asking me the same questions everytime I contact the helpline . ๐Ÿ˜‚

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user was denied entry into Thailand after attempting a border run and is now facing challenges due to a lost passport and phone. They are wondering if they can obtain a visa on arrival after being outside the country for over three months and are dealing with difficulties in getting a new passport from the UK. Comments suggest that immigration history will be considered and recommend having all necessary documentation and funds when attempting re-entry.

You obviously have a history of living inside Thailand. A new passport won't hide your history as it will all be on the immigration computer. Whether you'll be allowed to enter or not will be up to the immigration officer you will stand in front of, but I'd avoid flying in and make sure you have a ticket out, accommodation booked and 20k baht (or equivalent in major currency) in CASH when you do try to enter

it's also still unclear to me if the e visa will actually start in KL on 10th October or not. If I can walk in , I can show cash , just no way to prove funds any other way than that ... Bloody headache

evisa starts on the 8th. Today is the last day you can walk in. They shut on from the 3rd onwards to prepare the changeover to evisa

Yeah. I had been primarily in Chiang Mai 22 months , getting tourist visas from laos , + doing the two border hops you are allowed yearly ... When I fly in plan is to have a ticket with me showing I leave the country in 30 days , the accommodation thing I dunno what to do about because I have a condo already in Chiang Mai .. Really now I'm just looking to get back to empty that condo , sell my motorbikes , put my gear into storage and return to working in Europe .

I guess I'll just have to roll the dice and attempt to fly to Phuket from KL whenever I get my new passport. Cheers for swift reply ...
