and only on two occasions did I have return tickets, which I purchased in Udon Thani for Bkk-UK. The rest of the flights, which came to tens of dozens over the years, were one-way out of Thailand to different destinations and on return all flights one-way into Bkk. Apart from the two times I purchased tickets or myself from private trips, all the other flights, out & back into Thailand were provided by companies.
Yes, I agree, it depends on your priorities. When I was living in Thailand, pre 2009, I was coming and going for 11 years, mostly on 30 day visa exempts. Only ever got three two month tourist visas and one twelve month 'O' multiple entry, so for me doing the protocol requirements of the DTV., would be no problem.
