Everything else, my car insurance is up for renewal . Been quoted 10,400b for number 2, same as last year. Does this seem about right.

car is about 10 year old and spends most of its time parked up in lopburi .

TLDR : Answer Summary
The quoted price of 10,400 baht for car insurance appears to be within the expected range for a 10-year-old car, based on community feedback. Users recommend obtaining multiple quotes for comparison and suggest companies like Roojai for potentially better rates. Experiences shared include varying costs for different age vehicles, with mentions of specific prices and insurance categories.

A Thai friend of mine pays about 25,000 a year for a Thai government insurance policy that covers anyone with a full driving licence to drive the vehicle. It also covers all medical and vehicle damage costs. You get what you pay for.

For me Roojai valuations are low on the amount they insure. For example trucks worth 1 million they insure for 780,000

i think many wont insure 1st class after 10 years old. my 15 year old fortuner cost around 6k at roojai for 2nd class. so the car itself is not covered but any damage it may do to other property or people is which is fine for such an old car for me

can insurance here is VERY different, the insurance is on the vehicle age and value not on the driver, and generally any one can drive as long as they have a licence

- I am not entirely sure the license is necessary. You will want it if you get in an accident for insurance purposes...

I paid 10,000 approx for 1st year with new car with Bangkok ins.. Inc compulsory insurance.

2nd year too expensive with Bkk ins... So went with Roojai

2 years later it's about 9000 baht inc compulsory insurance.

Insured value 420,000 baht class 1.

Toyota Yaris sport

Edit..1st year free via Toyota

I am looking at buying a new Toyota Yaris or Honda City when we arrive in December so that quote looks reasonable I guess.

yes I have seen that when we were out there in September looking at cars. I did hear also that the second year they bump it up quite a bit so I will keep that name in mind.

I just renewed my car insurance as well. My car is also most of the time parking so I chose “Up to miles” Its mean I paid 6k only. This is good for less driving. Look for Tip Insure Company

interesting comment Martin. I'm with Roojai, I'm 70 years old , renewed it after my 70th.

Is that just for newcomers.

I've been with them several years now

I signed up with them about 1 month ago for auto insurance and I just turned 72. However, when I did a quote the month before for motorcycle insurance it told me I didn't qualify.
