I’m sure you meant the two are not bound by certain checks/balances re approval of entry but the two are both most definitely connected together by domestic/international databases. PIBICS, SLTD, PBX and APP are the publicly known systems of which Interpol maintains two of them.
cost was inline with what everyone else wanted that I had talked to. It was either 2400 or 2800thb for 2 pages (450 per) and the rest was for her/employee to make the two trips to MFA to submit/collect paperwork and then send to me by express post.
Was lucky to find her because I went to the MFA thinking I could do all this in one day based on a 1 year old post on aseannow dot com re a translation service that was (at one time) on the 2nd floor of the MFA preCovid. They’re not there. Plenty of hawkers there though. There were only two places I could find within walking distance of MFA and she was the one that answered. The other one is directly across the motorway from MFA but I never heard back from them.
The MFA booking/appointment to get your paperwork sorted is the part you need to worry about. I just got my paperwork back yesterday so if you need someone to translate, make the booking and stand-in for your appointment (via power of attorney) I can recommend this lady as she did everything she said she would and we received paperwork the day she said we would. Will def use her again.

Her office is down the soi about 200m to the right next door to a coffee shop. Its within walking distance of the MFA.

Paul James both trips I made this year I was nearly last and had a cue# above 350. From my own pre-Covid trips there I now observed way more Chinese, specifically younger with quite a few young girls groups. Of course more Russians, mostly younger (

being male) and a larger number of Filipino applicants (male and female) than I remember. And its always the Filipinos that have their shit together when it comes to paperwork. Normally there’s a handler within the group that checks out paperwork even if they’re not together. The Chinese/Russians ALWAYS had multiple applicants get kicked out over missing/inadequate paperwork.
This last trip almost 85% or more were from visa run agencies. I think I counted 25-30 minivans parked by 2pm. On pp pickup day I was at the end of the line again and I bet only 10 tuktuks made the trip to the border in total.
I don’t see reports anymore re Vientiane runs and I wouldn’t be surprised if the reason is because Chinese and/or Russian visa agents are abusing/gaming the appointment system. Everyone I’ve ever talked to about going there said they can never get an appointment when they go online.
