FYI, if you speak with the consulate, they may be able to cancel your active one and start your DTV instead.

I have always stayed at least overnight, and I have received the advice that an overnight stay is recommended. It's probably so that the exit and entry dates are not the same, but hey, do as you wish... That being said, I enjoy long weekend trips to nearby destinations like Malaysia, Philippines, Japan, and so on... Enjoy the wealth of beauty and culture that is Asia! <3

Take a weekend trip to Malaysia... Leaving and returning is quite simple, and it's good to explore Southeast Asia while you're here.

I always have a cheap exit flight booked to another country in southeast Asia, however I have never been asked to show it. I find it better to have it and not need it versus need it and not have it. Same thing with having more than 20k baht in cash on me at the time of entry.

Patrick Cunniff - You say that, meanwhile, as someone who actually has a DTV, and has worked with the Thai Consulate, I can guarantee you that you are wrong. Perhaps you should not speak out of turn next time.

I would recommend speaking with the Thai Consulate that you submitted your application to. They can answer all of your questions.
