Sorry to hijack this post, but I have a question regarding work in Thailand that I need a clear answer to; I am retired due to disability, but have an online business in Norway that I work with when my health allows me to. If I work with that, even when I'm in Thailand, would that be illegal?

Thai law explicitly requires a deposit in a Thai bank. Why are people constantly questioning this?

You can already have a 30 years landlease, with a possible 90 years extention, which is even possible to transfer to your kids.

Exactly. Some immigration offices require the ORIGINAL income documents in ADDITION to an affidavit from the embassy.

I'm no expert either, but my experience is the opposite of yours. I'm a member of several groups regarding visa issues in Thailand, and although I also have noticed the same as you, that officers interpretation varies, the admins and moderators who has been living in Thailand for decades says that for an extention of stay, the general rule are that a proof of income is more than enough. They do have encountered officers who claim you have to have a bank account too, but then they just went to another office in the region and got their extension there. Bank account are in other words the exception to the rule. But there is one thing many people do wrong, and I made the same mistake; Always bring the original affidavit from the embassy. Immigration will not accept a scan/copy!

Why would you care if you're gone? Point is to secure yourself while you are alive. And if you have kids, parents, the leasehold can be transferred to them when you pass. Just make sure it's stated in the leasehold.
